Parish Council
There will be a meeting of the parish council on Monday (5th) at 7.00 pm. If there are any items you would like to be discussed please inform me or any member of the parish council.

Christ in the World group
The next meeting of the group will be Friday (9th) at 7.00 pm. The main topic for discussion is ‘The persecution of Christians across the World’.

Reception of Communion
In a letter from Bishop Seamus he reminds us that in the general introduction of the Roman Missal we are expected to make some act of reverence before the reception of communion. The Bishop’s Conference has asked that this be a small nod before coming up to receive holy communion.

Christmas Candles
The lighting of candles around the edge of the balcony for the first Mass of Christmas seems to be successful so we will be repeating it this year. So if you would like to have a candle lit for someone in your family please fill in the form in the Narthex and place in the box. Any donations made will be for St Cuthbert’s Care Side by Side project.

St Cuthbert’s Care
During Advent, instead of a special collection, the wall safes at the back of church are available for your donations.

Matthew Project
This is a project being started by members of the Bedlington Christian Fellowship (the Coffin Chapel). This project will be working with statutory and voluntary agencies to provide basic food stuffs for those who need it. The project was launched on Friday by Ian Lavery MP and I am delighted to say the parish was represented by Lawrie Clark, Peter and Barbara Fowler and Moira Quinn. Just as other churches in Bedlington have worked with us in opening the Open House project I would like the parish to work as best we can with this important initiative. Peter and Barbara Fowler have kindly volunteered to be responsible for collecting and distributing food stuffs. Non perishable goods such as jam, sugar, tea and coffee, rice, pasta and any tinned items would be acceptable. I am aware of our commitment to the refugee project where we are requested to provide specifically tinned meat, therefore, contributions to the Matthew project should not affect our particular contributions to the refugee project. (Collection today for refugees and asylum seekers and first Sunday of every month)

Parish Ceildh
There will be a parish Ceilidh, next Saturday at 7.30 pm. Tickets - £5 There will be a shared table. If interested in buying a ticket please contact Lawrie Clark (H) 01670820528, (M) 07764348367.

Church Open for Prayer and Reflection
I have been considering having the church open more often for people to use for prayer and reflection. I appreciate that there are security issues. As an experiment for the Fridays in Advent, the church will be open from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm. I hope this will give people an opportunity, especially for parents and grandparents taking children to school to use the church when passing by. The church should have people in it from 8.30 am until about mid-day. I am looking for volunteers to be present in the church from 12 noon until 1.00 pm to ensure the church’s security. Please sign the list in the Narthex if you can help. Ideally I’d like at least two people to be present.

Traidcraft
Many thanks to all who ordered Traidcraft goods and cards. The total of £619.59 is almost double last years figure.

Carmelites Meeting next Sunday at 2.00 pm. All are welcome.

There will be a Blood Transfusion session in the hall on Wednesday.
