Easter Triduum
During Holy Week we celebrate the Easter Triduum of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter vigil. The Church invites us to be with Christ as he instituted the Eucharist, washed the feet of his disciples, prepared to face his death The Church also invites us to walk with Christ as he was crucified and then triumphantly rose from the dead. This is the most significant opportunity we have all year to fully share in the mystery of God’s offer of salvation to all as revealed in and through Christ. In the light of this, I would encourage as many of you as possible to take part in the following celebrations. It is a bit ironic that most of the time there is an obligation to take part in the major liturgical celebrations. It is not obligatory to take part in any of the Easter Triduum services so we are given the opportunity to freely partake in the most important liturgical celebrations of the year. I do so hope you use this freedom to partake in these most important liturgical celebrations of our faith.
Maundy Thursday: Mass of the Last Supper at 7.30 pm. After Mass there will be Watching at the Altar of Repose until 10.00 pm.
Good Friday: Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3.00 pm. The church will be left open until 6.00 pm for anyone to pray and reflect.
Easter Vigil: The first Mass of Easter at 8.00 pm. At the Vigil we will welcome Bianca Bellizzi and Elsie Wade who are preparing to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church that night. Please keep them in your prayers.
Reconciliation here at St Bede’s this afternoon at 4.00 pm. I hope all will make an effort to attend.
If you are unable to be at St Bede’s this afternoon, further opportunities are available at:
