Welcome
We welcome Fr Tony Rattigan and Fr Jim Doherty who will celebrate our weekend Masses for us here at St Bede’s while Fr Chris is away.
First Holy Communion
Sunday 17th June will be an important day in the life of our parish as well as for our children when they will receive their First Holy Communion. They have been preparing for this special day since September Please keep them, and their families, in your prayers as they prepare for this important day in their life.
Christ in the World Group
The next meeting of the Christ in the World Group will be on Friday 15h June at 7.00pm. The session will be led by Fr Chris and will be on ‘The pastoral, spiritual and social issues of caring for people with Dementia and their carers’.
Second Collection
There will be a second collection taken today for the Lay Training Fund. Please use the white special collection envelopes from your planned giving box.
Vocations Discernment
A retreat for those thinking about a voation to the priesthood will take place at the Diocesan Youth Village, Allensford, Consett from 5.00 pm 20th July to 1.00 pm 21st July. The retreat will be free of charge. To book contact: Fr Michael McCoy 0191 5342346 or Fr Marc Lyden-Smith 0191 2395706
Matthew Project
Donations of basic food stuffs for food parcels for local families in need is still sadly needed. Demand is increasing but supplies at the Coffin Chapel are decreasing. So, further donations would be appreciated.
Just bring them to the Church and volunteers will make sure they are taken to the Coffin Chapel.
Football Players Wanted!
One of our parishioners, Dominic Molloy, is looking at the possibility of whether a team from the parish could be established to be members of the North East Christian Fellowship League. The league was established to enable fellow Christians to play their football within a Christian ethos. Each team must have at least 5 Christians. Dominic has had interest from some of his friends and family but obviously would like to see if other parishioners would like to take part. Liturgy Rota
The new rota has commenced. If you are involved in the liturgy please take a copy of the rota which is available in the Narthex. If you are unable to fulfil your role please arrange a substitute and endorse master copy in Narthex.
Children’s Liturgy
We are in need of new helpers with the children’s liturgy. If you think you would like to help why not ask to sit in at one of the children’s liturgies to see if you would like to be involved.
African Art
There will be a display of African art in the hall on the weekend of 23rd/24th June. Helena Slater will give 10% of proceeds raised to St Bede’s.
