Welcome
I am conscious at this time of year of visitors to the parish who are on holiday. If you are visiting us you are very welcome. We hope you are having a pleasant time visiting the area. Tea and coffee is served after 10.00 am on Sunday morning in the parish hall. You will be very welcome to join us there.
Day of Recollection
The autumn day of recollection will be on Saturday 4th October leaving at 9.15 am returning at 5.00 pm. The theme of the day will be Creation and Spirituality. This day is the feast day of St Francis and we will share in the liturgical celebrations of the community at 12 noon. Please sign the sheet in the Narthex if you would like to take part in this day.
Examination Result Time
I am aware that some of our young members of the community would have had exam results. We wish them every blessing for their futures.
Christ in the World Group
The next meeting of the Group will be on Friday 5th September at 7.00pm. We will be exploring the lives of Saints who have inspired us. More details later
Youth Mission
We continue to say the youth prayer at the end of Mass. Copies of the prayer are in the Narthex.
Journey of Faith Programme
The Journey of Faith Programme will resume in September. I have already had some enquiries. Parishioners have also asked if the course is available to those who are already Catholics. The answer is very much yes. In previous years practising and committed members of the parish have come to the sessions and have learned a great deal themselves and have been able to offer great support to those who are thinking about joining the Church.
A Note of Thanks
Brian and Carol Gregory, parents of the late Brian Gregory, would like to pass on their sincere thanks to all those who contributed to the funeral service and reception of their son and for all the support and prayers they received. It has been a source of comfort at a very sad time
Cafod Emergency Appeals
CAFOD are running emergency appeals for the crises in Gaza, Iraq, Syria and South Sudan. If you would like any money to be given to these appeals please put in an envelope marked CAFOD and the respective appeal that you wish the money to be given to.

Best wishes and Congratulations to our parishioner, Patrick Denton, who will soon start working with the Leeds Diocesan Youth Service at their Youth Centre, Middleton Grange, Ilkley for the next year. We hope it is a blessed and worthwhile year for him

Induction of new Methodist Minister
Today at 4.00 pm I will be attending Stakeford Methodist Church for the Induction service of their new Methodist minister, the Rev Jim Magee. We welcome Jim as a member of Bedlingtonshire Churches Together and we hope and we pray that his ministry will be a fruitful one for him and his community. He is succeeding the Rev Susan Nichol who retired in July. We wish her a happy and blessed retirement.
