Nuptial Mass
On Wednesday at 10.00 am we will have a Nuptial Mass for John Cotman and Ann Miller.  Ann and John have made it clear that anyone is welcome  to  share in the Mass and in the light refreshments in the hall afterwards.  Please keep them in your prayers.

The annual Mass for the sick and housebound will be on Wednesday 3rd December at 1.00pm

Parish Ceilidh
This year the parish Ceilidh will be on Saturday November 29th at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5. Let’s make it a big and happy occasion :-)

Parish Fayre
This to take place on Saturday 22nd November, 1.00 to 4.00 pm.  Donations for tombola, the raffle and cake stalls  will be appreciated.  Help to provide teas and coffees during the afternoon will also be appreciated.

A Day for Advent
We will spend time reflecting on the words of Isaiah, the prophet of hope, who proclaimed the coming of the promised Messiah.  St Aidan’s RC Church, Green Lane, Holy Island on Saturday 29th November 11.15 am to 4.00 pm.  Refreshments provided, please bring a packed lunch.  Further details on poster in Narthex.

Day of Reflection for Forward Together in Hope
Bishop Seamus is keen to ensure that the ‘Forward Together in Hope ‘ process is rooted in prayer. On 2nd December  at 10.30am to 12 noon and 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm, both  Laity and Clergy have opportunities  to listen to a 30 minute presentation by Bishop Seamus followed by an hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I would encourage people to attend  either of these events if they can.

Ecumenical Advent Carol Service
This year the event will be hosted by the Salvation Army.  It will take place on Sunday 30th November at 4.00 pm.  We hosted this event last year, and the Pentecost event, and there was a great deal of support from other churches.  I think it is very important that as a community we reciprocate the support that has been given to us.

Request for rosaries
I have a request from the Catenians who are sending rosaries to various parts of the third world.  Please let me have any spare rosaries you would like to donate for this project.

Research Project on the role of Women in the Church
I have been approached by Veronica Whitty, who is a fellow member of the diocesan Justice and Peace council, who is wanting to write a book on the experiences of women in the Catholic church, especially those who are not married though there will be two chapters on married women and widows respectively.  She would welcome any contributions, if you would like to take part please contact me or email Veronica on 0191 236 0920 or 0772 973.
