Twentieth Anniversary

This is an important weekend as a parish community as we celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the opening of the church.  This is very much an occasion for the whole parish as we celebrate not just a beautiful building but this community of faith.  As we remember the anniversary of the dedication of this building it is an opportunity for us to re-dedicate ourselves to God’s service.  I would like to give a special warm welcome to Vincente Stienlet   I am so pleased he is able to join us this weekend and we look forward to hearing his reflections on the church. Sadly, Fenwick Lawson has had to send us his apologies due to his wife being unwell at this time.  I hope many of you can join us for the social and talks after the celebration Mass this Sunday.  My thanks to the social committee and all those who have helped with the preparations for today.

At the end of both Masses the lapel crosses that have been given to every parish for the Year of Faith will be distributed to all present.

Mission Sunday

Today is World Mission Sunday, a special day of prayer for missionaries and all those in voluntary service abroad.  There will be a retiring collection this weekend.  There are envelopes in the Narthex if you wish to gift aid your donation.

Day of Recollection  on Saturday 27th October at Alnmouth Friary The bus will leave at 9.15 am and return for 4.45 pm.  Please sign list as soon as possible to enable us to arrange transport.  The cost of the day is £15.  The theme of the day is following Christ.

Mass Times

The new Mass change will take effect on Sunday 2nd December at 10.00 am.  As a new liturgy rota needs to be in place for that date, if you haven’t already done so, please indicate on the list on the notice board in the Narthex at which Mass you wish to minister, either Vigil or 10.00 am.
RCIA  -  Journey of Faith programme started on Thursday.  As we begin the Year of Faith this is an excellent opportunity, especially for those who have never attended a journey of faith programme to learn and reflect on their faith.  John O’Neil will begin each session with a teaching element and I will finish each session with a reflection  on John’s input on what this means on living out the Christian faith.  If there is anyone or you know of anyone who has expressed an interest in knowing more about the Catholic faith please invite them to this. Please note change of day. At least till Christmas, Journey of Faith will now be taking place on Thursdays. Apologies for any inconvenience with this late change.

Preparation for Mission

The invitations that are going to be distributed to all those on the parish roll are now available.  My thanks to all who have volunteered to distribute the invitations.  I am pleased to say that the chaplains from the High School will be working with some of the children in the school to help us in the mission.  Please keep this event in your prayers.
