Anonymous Donation
During this week I received an anonymous donation from two parishioners to give to charities of my choosing.  I would like to acknowledge the receipt of £500 in cash and to offer my thanks to  the donors. I have decided to give half of the donation to CAFOD and since while I was away there were terrorist acts in Kenya , and we had a member of L’Arche, Kenya with us in France I thought it would be fitting to give the other half of the donation to L’Arche in Kenya since they are a sign of peace and unity in a place of violence and fear

Gathering of St John’s Gospel in France
For those of you at Mass last weekend you will be aware that I found my time in France very worth while.  I certainly gained some important insights into the Gospel of St John that Jean Vanier has  obtained  with this work with people with disabilities.  It was also inspiring to be in the village where L’Arche started and to meet people who have been involved with L’Arche for a number of years.  They were very impressive group of people.  I guess the main insight I have is that we are all truly beloved by God despite our struggles, failures, and difficulties what Jean describes as our ‘brokenness ‘.  Indeed, it is  our own and the brokenness of others that enables us to know that we are truly beloved by Jesus who shares in our vulnerability and fragility.  It is this that enables our transformation which is always work in progress!.  I am looking forward to the second half of the gathering which will take place in February.  My thanks for your prayers and best wishes for this important experience that I have been privileged to receive.
Parish Youth Council
I hope that young people will be able to help with the Churches Together Advent service  on 1st December so I hope that members of the youth council will help with the planning.  After the planning meeting is finished I would like to have a meeting with the youth council to arrange another date to meet.

Diocesan Sacramental Day on Baptism
An opportunity to develop your understanding of what it means to be a baptism catechist.  For those already involved and those interested in becoming involved Saturday 16th November, 10.00 am to 3.00 pm at Holy Name Parish Hall, Jesmond NE2 3JX.  Further information www.rcdhn.org.uk or email adult.formation@diocesan.org.uk.

Churches Together Advent Service  -  1st December
There will be a meeting after 10.00 am Mass this weekend to carry on discussions for the preparation of this event.  All are welcome.

Choppington Parish Council
Today (Sunday) at 4.00 pm there will be a commissioning service for the members of Choppington Parish Council at Holy Family Anglican Church, Stakeford.  The church leaders in the area are delighted that the council would like to have their work recognised within  the context of Christian faith. So I would recommend all parishioners living within the boundaries of their parish council to attend.
