Extraordinary Synod on Family Life
As I’ve mentioned in previous bulletins recently there is going to be an extraordinary synod on family life. Preparations have already begun for this. The Bishop is collating information for the Synod. The Bishops of England and Wales have put out a questionnaire for people to express their views about family life. You can fill this questionnaire online on the following website: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FamilySynod2014
or there are hard copies available in the Narthex. I think it is wonderful that everyone in the church is being given the opportunity to express their views on family life which is something that effects us all. It would be a great pity if this opportunity for people to express their views was only taken up by a small number of people. Therefore, I would strongly encourage people to fill in this questionnaire so that the views and experiences of good people like yourself can be expressed and
listened to. Responses have been requested to be filled in and returned prior to 30th November.
Christ the King
Next weekend is the Feast of Christ the King. There will be a retiring collect0on taken next weekend on behalf of the Youth Ministry Trust (YMT) to support the work of Catholic Youth - Please take an envelope today from the Narthex, and return it next weekend with your donation. If you wish to gift aid your donation please sign and date the declaration on the envelope.
Clergy Training Fund
The fund remains open until next Sunday for any private or family donations.
Carmelites
There will be a Carmelite meeting today at 2.00 pm. John Berry, Prior Provincial delegate will attend. All are welcome.
Parish Ceilidh
The social committee are now selling tickets for the December parish ceilidh. It will take place on Saturday 7th December at 7.30 pm Tickets are £5. Since the last ceilidh was cancelled due to lack of interest I know that the social committee is keen for this one to be a great success. Since this is the only social gathering we have as a parish around the Advent and Christmas period I would encourage as many of you as possible to take part. The ceilidh group have given us a very generous discount since they like playing for us.
End of Year of Faith
Bishop Seamus Cunningham will celebrate the conclusion of the Year of Faith by celebrating Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral, Newcastle on Saturday 23rd November at 11.00 am. All are welcome.
Prisoner’s Week
This week from the 17th to the 23rd November is Prisoner’s Week where we remember prisoners, their families and all those who work within the prison system. I am very happy to accept any donations for PACT a Catholic charity to help prisoners and their families.
