Fr Tony Rattigan will be presiding at the Vigil Mass this weekend My thanks to Fr Tony so that I can take part in a friend’s wedding celebration.
First Holy Communion Programme
This weekend we have our second liturgy for our First Holy Communion candidates which will remind the children about the importance of their baptism.
Marriage
Next Saturday we will have our only wedding for this year with the marriage liturgy for Natasha Elizabeth Burke and David Jon Wandless. We pray for them as they prepare for this important moment in their life.
Annual Mass for the Faithful Departed
This Friday at 7.00 pm we will have the annual parish Mass for the faithful departed when we particularly remember those who have died in the past twelve months. At this Mass we will read out the names of all those who have died during this time. People will have the opportunity to light a candle on behalf of their loved ones.
Annual Mass for the Sick and Housebound
This event arranged by our SVP group will be taking place on Friday 29th November at 1.00 pm. All are welcome. There will be the opportunity to receive the sacrament of the sick at this Mass. As in previous years we will be joined by some members of St Bede’s Primary School.
Christ in the World group
The next meeting will be on Friday 22nd November at 7.00 pm. For the topic please see following item in the bulletin.
Extraordinary Synod on Family Life
As I’ve mentioned in previous bulletins recently there is going to be an extraordinary synod on family life. Preparations have already begun for this. The Bishop is collating information for the Synod. The Bishops of England and Wales have put out a questionnaire for people to express their views
about family life. You can fill this questionnaire online on the following website: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FamilySynod2014 or there are hard copies available in the Narthex. I think it is wonderful that everyone in the church is being given the opportunity to express their views on family life which is something that effects us all. It would be a great pity if this opportunity for people to express their views was only taken up by a small number of people. Therefore, I would strongly encourage people to fill in this questionnaire so that the views and experiences of good people like yourself can be expressed and listened to. Responses have been requested to be filled in prior to 30th November.
Clergy Training Fund
The fund remains open until 24th November for any private or family donations.
Churches Together Advent Service - 1st December
There will be a meeting and rehearsal for the Advent service after Mass today (10th). If anyone would like to take part in the service they are very welcome to attend
Ecumenical Choir
This choir performs for Churches Together. They will be singing at the Advent carol service. If you would like to be a member of this choir, the first rehearsal on Tuesday 12th November at 7.15 pm at Trinity Church. All are welcome.
Parish Ceilidh
The social committee are now selling tickets for the December parish ceilidh. It will take place on Saturday 7th December at 7.30 pm Tickets are £5. Since the last ceilidh was cancelled due to lack of interest I know that the social committee is keen for this one to be a great success. Since this is the only social gathering we have as a parish around the Advent and Christmas period I would encourage as many of you as possible to take part. The ceilidh group have given us a very generous discount since they like playing for us.
Prisoner’s Week
Next week from the 17th to the 23rd November is Prisoner’s Week where we remember prisoners, their families and all those who work within the prison system. I am very happy to accept any donations for PACT a Catholic charity to help prisoners and their families.
