The Most Holy Trinity

Today we celebrate the feast of the Holy Trinity. One way to see this feast is to acknowledge God as a communion of love which overflows to all of creation and humanity.  We are called to share in and reflect this divine communion.

First Holy Communion

This weekend at the 10.00 am Mass we celebrate First Holy Communions for some of our boys and girls who are at St Bede’s School.  I would like to extend a warm welcome to the children, their families and friends.  I hope it is a special day for your all and I pray that this day will deepen the children’s love for Christ and the Eucharist.  I would like to express my thanks to Mrs Worrall, St Bede’s School and especially to Mary Yarrow who has been the parish catechist for the programme.

Retiring Collections

There will be a retiring collection today for World Youth Day.

Parish Barbecue

The social committee are organising a parish barbecue for Saturday 5th July from 7.30 pm. Tickets are available from members of the social committee. Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children. I would encourage as many of you as possible to take part .  I appreciate that we are dependent on British weather but previous parish barbecues have been seen to be as an enjoyable success.

Reflective Prayer at St Bede’s School

St Bede’s would like to offer a warm welcome to any parishioners who may want to join the school in their weekly reflective prayer on a Monday morning at 9.00 am in the school hall. This time allows all participants the opportunity to begin the week with a spiritually uplifting reflection on the weekly readings. The whole school community use it as their spiritual focus  for the week.

Pentecost Service

I would like to thank all those who contributed in either preparing or taking part or supporting by simply be being present at the service on Sunday.  All the feed back I have received has been very positive with people being impressed by the creativity, enthusiasm and commitment of our young people.  My special thanks to them for their efforts.  It is much appreciated by the parish and by the many members of Churches Together who came to the service on Sunday.
St Bede’s Primary School

Pupils from St Bede’s, Nursery, and Years 3 and 5 will join us for Mass on Tuesday at 10.00 am.

Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Warm congratulations to a priest in our deanery Fr Des McGivern at Seahouses who celebrated his golden jubilee last Friday at his former parish St Paul’s in Alnwick.  Our prayers and best wishes to Fr Des for his fifty years of commitment to the priesthood.

Parish Council

It was agreed at the parish council meeting to explore the possibility of re-starting the Christmas fayre.  If you would like to be involved as one of the organisers please let me know.

Baptism

The next set of baptismal classes will be starting on Thursday evening. Please contact me if you would like to take part  in this session.

Youth Mission to St Benet’s

· The next deanery mission group meeting with be on Thursday at 7.00 pm at St Aidan’s First School

· It agreed that the parishes would design banners for the mission so on Sunday 13th July at 1.00pm people are invited to take part in a picnic at St Paul First school in Alnwick to be followed by designing and making banners based on the words of the Mission Prayer. All are welcome

· The mission prayer continues to be said at the end of weekend Masses.  If I remember!
