Racial Justice
This weekend we pray for Racial Justice within our communities, our nation, and throughout the world.  We pray for a spirit of genuine respect for ethnic minorities and their respective cultures. There will be a second collection will be today  to support the work of the Catholic Association for Racial Justice.  Please use the white envelope from your box. 
 
Welcome
I am conscious at this time of year of visitors to the parish who are on holiday.  If you are visiting us you are very welcome.  We hope you are having a pleasant time visiting the area.  Tea and coffee is served after 10.00 am on Sunday morning in the parish hall.  You will be very welcome to join us there.
 
Day of Recollection
The autumn day of recollection will be on Saturday 4th October  leaving at 9.15 am returning at 5.00 pm.  The theme of the day will be Creation and Spirituality.  This day is the feast day of St Francis and we will share in the liturgical celebrations of the community at 12 noon.  Please sign the sheet in the Narthex if you would like to take part in this day. 
 
Marriage
Please pray for Jonathan Robson and Amy Sonnenfeld who will be married next Saturday.  We wish them a blessed and happy married life together.
 
Journey of Faith Programme
The Journey of Faith Programme will resume on Wednesday 24th September This year the sessions will be from 6.30 to 7.30pm. They will take place in the presbytery.
 
Harvest Sunday
The prayer and worship  group have decided that the weekend of 4/5th October will be deemed Harvest Sunday.  This coincides with making our donations for CAFODs Family Fast Day.  We would also invite people to make donations of food for the Matthew Project. 
 
Annual Mission Appeal by the VMM
Next weekend we will have our annual missionary appeal which this year will be for the Volunteer Mission Movement to make a missions appeal.  If you are interested in learning about opportunities in mission volunteer work, please contact them.: vmm@hope.ac.uk or 01512913438.
 
Parish Fayre
The parish council has decided we will hold a parish fayre which will take place on Saturday 22nd November, 1.00 to 4.00 pm.  Donations for tombola, raffles will be appreciated.  Further details later.
 
Praying for the People of Scotland
 
We keep the people of Scotland in our prayers as they decide on their future.  The church has no particular perspective to offer except that any decision should be seen to promote the common good for all. 
 
Youth Mission
We continue to say the youth prayer at the end of Mass.  Copies of the prayer are in the Narthex.  The next meeting for the mission in the deanery is this Thursday at 7.00pm at St Aidan’s first school, Ashington
 
Day of Recollection for Special Ministers
 A Day of Recollection is being held for all Eucharistic  Ministers in the Deanery on Saturday 20th September 10.30am to 3.00pm at St Aidan’s RC Church, Ashington. The day will be lead by the Diocesan Coordinator for  Spiritual Formation Kathryn Turner. Please confirm you attendance by contacting St Aidan’s on 01670 812200
 
Deanery Mass For Healing
There will be a deanery Mass for Healing at St Pauls Church, Percy Street, Alnwick on Wednesday 17th September, at 7.00 pm  with anointing of the sick of laying on of hands.  There will be Exposition of the blessed sacrament with an opportunity of reconciliation before hand from 6.00 pm.
 
Volunteers for Ushaw

Exploring Personal Prayer
Please see notice board for a course in exploring our prayer lives that is taking place on weekly basis at St Antony’s Priory, Durham from 2nd October  to 13th November.
