October
· a month for Our Lady - October is one of the months we seek to have devotion to our Blessed Lady. The rosary will be said before all weekday Masses apart from Friday and on Sunday’s one of the hymns will be devoted to Our Lady.
· Synod for Marriage and Family - During October we have prayed for the Synod that took place earlier this month on marriage and family. It has been given some attention from the media. No firm conclusions have been reached. The Synod will re gather in a year’s time so we continue to pray while the issues are discussed at a local level.

The next meeting will be on Friday 7th November. We will show the film ‘Of Gods and Men’ and then have a brief discussion about the film. The film relates the full story of Seven Trappist Monks who lived and were martyred in Algeria in 1994. It is very powerful yet beautiful film.

HOST is looking for kind, friendly, hospitable people who are inspired by the idea of welcoming an international student at university here, far from his or her own family, to their home. This could be for a day, a weekend or Christmas, and you don’t need to live near a university, as students will travel for the privilege of meeting you, learning about real life in this country, and sharing their own culture. HOST is a voluntary activity which makes ambassadors for international goodwill of us all. Please see www.hostuk.org or call HOST Office on 0207 739 6292. Thank you.
Day of Reflection for Forward Together in Hope
Bishop Seamus is keen to ensure that the ‘Forward Together in Hope ‘ process is rooted in prayer. On 2nd December at 10.30am to 12 noon and 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm, both Laity and Clergy have opportunities to listen to a 30 minute presentation by Bishop Seamus followed by an hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I would encourage people to attend either of these events if they can.
