Harvest Sunday
As a parish this weekend we are celebrating Harvest Sunday. We give thanks for the blessings of harvest and for the food we eat. We also remember those near and far go hungry. We would also invite people to make donations of food for the:
· Matthew Project which will be presented by our young people at the 10.00 am Mass today.
· Tins of food for refugees and asylum seekers. Please leave in the Narthex. Next collection first Sunday of the month.
· Friday was CAFOD’s harvest family fast day. Please return your family fast envelopes today. This will be part, as mentioned above, of Harvest Sunday.
Pupils from Years 2 and 5 will join us for Mass on Tuesday at 10.00 am.
Journey of Faith Programme The Journey of Faith Programme continues Wednesday at 6.30 pm in the Presbytery. The topic is “God is Creator - a biblical perspective’.
Baptisms
Today we welcome Noah Reece Bonev and Sophia Lynne Boneva into God’s family in baptism. We are asked to pray for Noah and Sophia, their family, and all preparing for baptism.
October a month for Our Lady
October is one of the months we seek to have a devotion to our Blessed Lady. The rosary will be said before all weekday Masses apart from Friday and on Sunday’s one of the hymns will be devoted to Our Lady.
Youth Mission
The next meeting in preparation will be on Thursday 16th October at 7.0- pm at St Aidan’s First School. We continue to say the youth prayer at the end of Mass. Copies of the prayer are in the Narthex.
Parish Fayre
This to take place on Saturday 22nd November, 1.00 to 4.00 pm. Donations for tombola, the raffle and cake stalls will be appreciated. Help to provide teas and coffees during the afternoon will also be appreciated
Gift Aid
There are a few letters remaining from the diocese for all who gift aid their offertory donations. Please take your letter today from the Narthex.
Christ in the World group will meet on Friday 10th October at 7.00 pm. The topic for discussion will be exploring the implications of ‘Love thy neighbour’
Date for Diary
The annual commemoration for those who have died in the parish over the last year will be on Friday 14th November at 7.00 pm.
St Paul’s Cramlington
It has been announced that Fr Simon Lerche will be leaving St Paul’s to be parish priest at St Bede’s, West Denton and Episcopal Vicar for Newcastle. The parish is waiting for a replacement. We pray for St Paul’s parish at this time of transition.
Training Day on Catholic Social Teaching
The diocesan Justice & Peace coordinating council are having a training day based on the key themes of Catholic social teaching next Saturday from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, here at St Bede’s church hall. I will be leading the day. If any parishioners would like to take place they would be very welcome to do so. Please bring a packed lunch.
Anniversary of National Board of Catholic Women
A Mass to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the national board of Catholic women will take place on Thursday 16th October at 7.00 pm at St Hilda’s Diocesan Resource Centre, West Road, Newcastle, followed by light refreshments. Please see poster in Narthex.
Celebrate North East
Catholic Charismatic Weekend Conference at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, Hebburn, NE31 2ET Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th October. Further details and information on poster in Narthex.
Praying with the Northern Saints ‘All Saints Day’ at St Aidan’s RC Church, Holy Island on Saturday 1st November 12 non to 4.00 pm. Refreshments provided, please bring packed lunch. Further details on poster in Narthex.
Synod for Marriage and Family.
During October we pray for the Synod that will be taking place this month on marriage and family. The Synod will be our parish intention during Exposition on a Friday morning.
