St Cuthbert’s Day

This Friday we celebrate our diocesan patron St Cuthbert.  The 6.30 pm Mass on Friday we will celebrate our patron.  I would encourage as many of you as possible to share in this diocesan solemnity as the diocese is facing change, praying as a diocese and asking our patron for guidance is very important.  To continue the celebration drinks and nibbles will be available in the Presbytery afterwards.

LENT

We continue our annual Lenten journey .  Lent is an opportunity to renew and deepen our relationship with God and to discern His call for us at the present time. During Lent the following will be taking place:

· Tuesday’s, the parish Mass will be in St Benet Biscop’s school chapel at 12.30 pm.

· Thursday’s Ecumenical Lenten lunches at here St Bede’s from 12 noon with prayer at 12.45 pm.

· Friday’s Stations of the Cross at 10.00 am,   Confessions from 6.00 pm.  Mass at 6.30 pm.

· Penitential service, Sunday 29th March at 4.00 pm.

Lenten Lunches

My thanks to those who provided the soup on Thursday.  Volunteers to host and serve on Thursday lunchtimes will still be appreciated.

Journey of faith  continues on Wednesday evening at 6.30 pm. We will look at the sacrament of healing.

The Deanery

At the moment three major parishes in the deanery do not have a priest  who is able to work full time.  St Paul’s, Alnwick, St Paul’s, Cramlington, and not that Fr Jones is not very well St Robert’s in Morpeth.  As you can imagine this adds extra pressure on clergy in the deanery.  For me this means taking the hospital week one week out of every three,
instead of five, and taking some responsibility in Morpeth so far has meant baptisms and weddings. Obviously this will effect  the amount of work I can commit to this parish.  I ask for your understanding and prayers.

SVP  National raffle tickets are on sale this weekend.

Confirmations

The next session of the Confirmation programme is on Thursday at 7.45. We will be exploring gifts of the Spirit. Please pray for our six confirmation candidates
