Parish Mission December 2012
Sunday 13th May 12 noon - After Mass there will be an open meeting to all the parish with a shared table where Fr Chris will say more about the mission and how the mission will be planned and organised.
Parish Patronal Feast—25th May
25th May is the Feast of our parish Patron and I would like to encourage as many of the parish to be involved in this. On the morning of the 25th at 9.30 am the whole of the primary school will be coming to church to celebrate Mass for St Bede. In the evening at 7.00 pm there will be the parish Mass for our patron and this will be followed by a barbecue in the blazing sunshine! Tickets are now available from members of the social committee and the cost is £5. Please put this date in your diary. The celebration of the patronal feast links into what I was saying about the parish mission in terms of acknowledging that we are part of a parish community that we all have something to contribute to the parish and building up the parish through using our own gifts and talents is really important.
There will be a Blood Transfusion session in the hall on Wednesday.
Welcome Back Sunday 26/27th May
Pentecost Sunday has been designated by Bishop Seamus as ‘Welcome Back Sunday’ when we are encouraged to invite people who have drifted away from the Church to be once again be part of the active life of the parish. Invitation notes are available at the back of church if you would like to give to anyone you think might be interested.
Children’s Liturgy
As I said at the Sunday morning Mass last week we are in need of new helpers with the children’s liturgy. If you think you would like to help why not ask to sit in at one of the children’s liturgies to see if you would like to be involved.
Sick and Retired Priests closes this weekend.
Refugees and Asylum Seekers
There will be a collection today for tins of food and meat (not pork). Please leave your donations in the Narthex. Further collections on the first Sunday of the month.

Parish Walk at Cresswell - Sunday 29 April
Sincere thanks to all who organised and took part in the parish walk at Cresswell and to the afternoon tea that took place later afterwards. The weather could not have been much worse for this time of the year but a number of you willingly endured the adverse conditions.
There was a great atmosphere in the hall with abundance of cakes and other goodies. As I write around £250 has been raised for the orphanage in Bulgaria. A special thanks Laura Johnston, Margaret Lacy and Pat Gales for their part in all this. There is talk of creating a parish recipe book for sale as a fundraising activity. Sounds exciting, watch this space …
Recent Bereavements
We continue to pray for recent deceased members of the parish and those who have been sadly bereaved. It has been very moving to see the parish being so supportive to our bereaved parishioners at this time. I am also personally thankful for support given to myself in dealing with a large number of funerals in recent weeks.
