Parish Mission December 2012

Please see below the events planned in preparation for the parish mission for December.

Weekend of 28/29th April - Fr Chris to explain more about the mission during his homily

Sunday 13th May 12  noon  - After Mass there will be an open meeting to all the parish with a shared table where Fr Chris will say more about the mission and how the mission will be planned and organised.

Baptism
Today we welcome Sam John Johanson into God’s family in baptism.  We are asked to pray for Sam, his family, and all preparing for baptism.

First Holy Communion
Today there is a first holy communion liturgy ‘In memory of Me’.

St Cuthbert’s Care’s’ Mass of the Good Shepherd
The parish is hosting a Mass involving St Cuthbert’s Care and children from various Catholic schools in the area who have contributed to St Cuthbert Care’s Lenten appeal.  Parishioners are very welcome to take part in this event.  This will take place on tomorrow (30th April) at 10.00 am.

Parish Patronal Feast—25th May
25th May is the Feast of our parish Patron and I would like to encourage as many of the parish to be involved in this.  On the morning of the 25th at 9.30 am the whole of the primary school will be coming to church to celebrate Mass for St Bede.  In the evening at 7.00 pm there will be the parish Mass for our patron and this will be followed by a barbecue in the blazing sunshine!  Please put this date in your diary.

Planned Giving Envelopes
If you have any planned giving envelopes left from last year (brown manila, or white) would you please dispose of them and use the pink envelopes. The white Special Collection envelopes are marked with the intended collection.  These are the envelopes for the current financial year of 2012/2012.  Thank you for your continued support.

Sick and Retired Priests fund remains open until next weekend.

Refugees and Asylum Seekers
There will be a collection next weekend for tins of food and meat (not pork).  Please leave your donations in the Narthex.  Further collections on the first Sunday of the month.

Called to the Supper of the Lamb

Public Lectures at Newcastle University
On  Monday and Tuesday of this week at 5.30 pm in the Curtis Auditorium of Newcastle University (just opposite Haymarket metro station).  Fr Timothy Radcliffe OP will be delivering two public lectures.  Fr Timothy was for nine years Grand Provincial, that is kind of international leader of the whole of the Dominican Order.  He is one of the most gifted and able speakers and writers that we have in the Catholic Church in this country.  I will certainly be there and if you do have the opportunity to go to these lectures I would thoroughly recommend them.

Parish Walk at Cresswell - Sunday 29 April
This will start at Cresswell (12.45 pm Cresswell Beach Public Car park)  followed by a truly scrumptious afternoon tea in the Parish Hall provided by some of the very best volunteer bakers in Bedlingtonshire (4.00 pm)! Perhaps you just want to come along for tea without the walk, that’s fine too, just let us know on the list.

Proceeds will be donated to the Maria Luiza Orphanage in Bulgaria where the children that Rebecca and Beth worked with last year.
To reserve your place for afternoon tea (Adults £4 / children free) and to let us know if you need a lift, please sign the list at the back of church.  Information sheets and walk sponsorship forms (optional) are also available.  Contacts – Pat Gales 07724659446 or Margaret Lacy 07801795400.

Even if there is rain tea will still be provided at 4.00 pm.
