Pope Francis
We continue to pray for our new Pope, Pope Francis 1st. He has already excited and inspired many by his simple humility and choice of name. At the balcony on the day of his election he invited us to walk with Christ in the way of love. May Christ guide Pope Francis as he during his pontificate seeks to bring us all closer to Christ
Penitential Service
Today, 17th March, we will have our Lenten Penitential service at 4.00 pm.  The prayer and worship group suggested that we try to use some of the creative and imaginative ways of celebrating the liturgy, which we used during the mission, for the penitential service so the liturgy before the opportunity for individual confession will be a bit different to that of previous years and will include some drama that the confirmation candidates are going to do for us. I hope the event will be a genuine celebration of God’s forgiveness for us as a community and as individuals through the sacrament of reconciliation.  I would like to express my thanks to all who have contributed to the preparation of this service, with special thanks to the confirmation candidates who have used some of their free time to help with preparing the service, and some of them have even been willing to sacrifice going to a football match on Sunday afternoon so that they can contribute to the service!  Now that’s what I call sacrifice and commitment!!

Holy Week

This begins next weekend with the celebration of Palm Sunday.  Both Masses next weekend will begin in the hall where we will have the blessing of the palms and remember Christ’s entry into Jerusalem.  We will process into church to celebrate Mass where we will hear St Luke’s account of Christ’s Crucifixion.  The Easter Triduum will be celebrated as stated below.  These are the most important of the Church’s liturgical celebrations for the whole year and I would encourage as many people as possible to come to these events.

Maundy Thursday:  (28 March) Mass of the Last Supper at 7.30 pm.

Good Friday:  (29 March) Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3.00 pm.

Holy Saturday :   (30 March) Easter vigil for the Lord’s Resurrection at 8.00 pm

Easter Sunday : (31 March) Mass for Easter Sunday, 10.00  am.
