St Robert’s parish are collecting memories of Fr Lawrence. There are sheets in the narthex if you would like add a personal memory of him

Confirmations
The next session will be on Thursday 21st May at 7.45 pm .  Please pray for our six candidates as they prepare for their confirmation on 5th June.

Moving Forward Together in Hope  -  (MFTH)
At the Mass this weekend I am going to show an eight minute DVD  presentation produced by the diocese giving details about MFTH.  I will also give a brief outline of the structure of the questionnaire.  The questionnaire will be sent out after Pentecost so I propose an open meeting of the parish at 7.00 pm on Thursday 28th May to explore as to how as a parish we will  make our response to  the questionnaire.  It will be available on online when published.

St Bede’s Day
St Bede’s day is 25th May.  This year the day falls on the bank holiday at the end of May, therefore, Mass will be at 11.00 am to celebrate our patron and then there will be an “open Presbytery and garden” for people to bring food and drink so that we can have an informal celebration for St Bede, and our parish community, during the day.  Weather permitting we will have a barbecue in the garden so people can bring food for the barbecue if they so wish.  Please do all you can to ensure this is a joyful celebration for our parish.

Journey of Faith
As was the case last year we shall have a small number of meetings with those who were received into the church for them to reflect on their experience of being a member of our parish community.  The next meeting will be on Wednesday 3rd June at 6.30pm

Annual Mass for Justice & Peace
I would like to offer my thanks to those parishioners who came to the Mass for J & P last Saturday and for their personal support.  I have yet to be informed that I am a heretic so I assume that the Bishop had no questions about my sermon?  After the Mass I gave an interview with the Northern Cross editor about the work of the J & P coordinating council which will be in next month’s edition of the paper.

Pastoral Care for the Sick and Elderly
If any special ministers are willing to take holy communion to the sick and housebound please let me know.  Also if you are aware of any Catholics who are housebound whom you think would like to have a visit from myself please let me know.

General Election
As I type this I have no idea as to who will be running the country and I am not sure if it will be much clearer by the time you read this!  Whoever is running our country let us pray for them and that they will rule with wisdom, justice and integrity.
