Trinity Sunday

Today’s feast day is like a concluding paragraph of a book, having gone from Advent to Pentecost recalling the drama of our salvation in Christ.  We acknowledge and celebrate God revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We celebrate God as a communion of love who invites us to share in the intimacy and power of the Trinity’s love and life.

Confirmations

On Friday we welcome Bishop Seamus as he confirms six of our young parishioners.  I would like you to pray for Nathaniel Anstee, Rose Lee-Alliston, Cameron Bell, Harriet Priest, Chloe Priest and Mia Bliss. I would encourage as many of the parish to come and support our young people as they make this commitment in Christ.  The time, energy and commitment the candidates along with other young people of the parish gave in celebrating the Good Friday liturgy was tremendous.  It would be fitting for us as a parish to acknowledge their generosity by supporting them as they receive the sacrament of Confirmation.  There will be a reception in the hall afterwards to which you are invited. My thanks to those who have already offered to bring food for this, any other contributions would be appreciated please sign the list in the Narthex, and please pray for our candidates as they prepare to celebrate the sacrament.

Journey of Faith

As was the case last year we shall have a small number of meetings with those who were received into the church for them to reflect on their

experience of being a member of our parish community.  The next meeting will be on Wednesday 3rd June at 6.30pm.

Christ in the World

The next meeting will be Friday 12th June.  The group agreed that we would reflect from a faith perspective on  ‘Making a noise for Bedlington’.

Moving Forward Together in Hope  -  (MFTH)

My thanks to those who came to the meeting on Thursday evening.  I hope people found it informative and helpful.  Copies of the summary sheet of this part of the process will be available in the Narthex for those who were not able to come to the meeting.  Details of the next stage of what the parish will do will be in the bulletin next week

St Bede’s Day

I would like to thank all who took part in the celebrations for St Bede’s day and for those who contributed to the buffet and barbecue.  It was lovely to celebrate our patron’s feast day as a community.

At the final session last week it was agreed that we would pray for what the Holy Spirit may be showing us in how we respond to those inside and outside prison.  There will be a meeting at the Coffin Chapel on Wednesday 3rd June at 7.30 pm to pray, reflect, and discuss.
