Baptism

Today we welcome Sophie Ava Barnfather into God’s family in baptism.  We are asked to pray for Sophie, her parents, and all preparing for baptism.

 

Helping Bulgarian orphans

At the end of Mass last weekend Beth Lacy made an appeal to raise funds for a care worker for a Bulgarian orphan with special needs whom she and Rebecca and Laura Johnston had befriended during their work in Bulgaria.  They are looking to raise £75 per month to employ a care worker, known as a baba, for this young boy called Doncha.  If you would like to make a regular payment please sign the list in the Narthex.

 

Confirmations in 2013

I have sent a letter to  Years 9 and 10 pupils in our parish.  If there is anyone else not in year 9 or 10 but older who would like to be confirmed or does not attend St Benet’s please let me know, if you would like to be confirmed, by 12th November.  Confirmations will be led by Bishop Cunningham on 3rd May next year.
 
RCIA  -  Journey of Faith continues on Thursday evening at 7.00 pm.

John O’Neill will be start  look at Mark’s Gospel. If you  would like to know more about the  scriptures I would recommend these sessions on Mark’s Gospel

Mass Times
The new Mass change will take effect on Sunday 2nd December at 10.00 am.  As a new liturgy rota needs to be in place for that date, if you haven’t already done so, please indicate on the list on the notice board in the Narthex at which Mass you wish to minister. 

 

Preparation for Mission
Please continue to pray for this mission.  The main focus of the mission is to celebrate our shared discipleship of Jesus which we celebrate in the sacrament of baptism.  For more information please see the stand on the right as you leave the Narthex.


First Holy Communion Programme

Next Sunday we have our next liturgy for our candidates  for  First Holy Communion. The children will be making their Profession of Faith
 
Annual Mass for the Deceased
The annual Mass for all those who have died in the parish during the past twelve months will take place on Friday 16th November at 7.00
pm.  Light refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards.During  the Mass I will read out the names of all those whose funerals have  taken place from St Bede’s in the past twelve months.  If any family or friends have died during the past twelve months but whose funerals were not from St Bede’s I am very happy to include them during the Mass but please inform me by writing of their name and date of death.
 
SVP   Annual Mass for healing followed by afternoon tea will take place on Friday 23rd November.  Tickets available soon.
National raffle tickets on sale this weekend.
 
Spiritual Reading
As mentioned last week I have placed some of my books on spirituality in the Narthex thinking that some of them may be  of interest to some of you.  Please feel free to have a loan of any of the books  -  just sign the list.
 
St Bede’s Football Club
The next home game is a derby this coming Saturday against Morpeth Baptist starting at 10.30 am.  Any support we can give to “our team” will be much appreciated by the manager and the players.
 
Priest’s Training Fund  remains open for the next three weeks for individual private or family donations.
 
 
Refugees & Asylum Seekers
There will be a collection today for tins of food and meat (not pork).  Please leave your donations in the Narthex.  Further donations on the first Sunday of the month.
 
Lourdes 2013
An eight day coach pilgrimage Friday 26th July to Friday 2nd August, 2013, £499 per person, inclusive coach travel, ferry, accommodation bed and breakfast on overnight stop, five nights full board, excursion programme whilst in Lourdes.
